Public Awareness and Education

Public Awareness and Education

Climate education empowers East Africans to drive environmental solutions. GRI’s awareness programs target schools, policymakers, and media, using participatory workshops, digital campaigns, and community radio to spread knowledge about sustainable practices. Our goal: Create a grassroots movement for climate action.

Bridging the Knowledge Gap

Only 34% of Kenyan youth understand climate change causes (KNBS 2022).

GRI’s school clubs reached 15,000+ students in 2023 with hands-on tree planting and recycling projects.

We make complex science relatable through local language resources.

Key Initiatives

  • Green Champions Program: Training teachers in 200+ schools on climate curricula.
  • Radio Drama Series: Swahili programs on sustainable farming aired in 8 counties.
  • Policy Labs: Workshops for county leaders on integrating SDGs into development plans.

Digital Engagement for Wider Reach

GRI’s #MitiNiLife TikTok campaign garnered 2M+ views, challenging youth to plant trees. We also provide:

  • Free WhatsApp courses on rainwater harvesting
  • Virtual reality tours of restored ecosystems
  • AI chatbots answering climate queries in Swahili

Be a climate educator: Sponsor a school program, volunteer as a trainer, or share our resources. Contact GRI to access toolkits or collaborate on campaigns.
